As part of a program to reduce vandalism to stabled rolling stock, a major rail operator engaged Thorburn to establish concept designs, the costs and priorities for protecting stabling yards and maintenance centres across their network.  The scope of work comprised the provision of fencing, lighting, CCTV, access control and electronic intruder detection to more than 70 sites with each site having a security perimeter length ranging between 1 and 3 kM.

Thorburn provided all design and engineering services including civil, electrical, communications and cost estimating.
