Fire protection of heritage railway rolling stock within a large storage building presented significant challenges due to the scale of the facility, exposure to bush-fire hazards and likely behaviour of a fire in this environment.

A cost effective solution was developed comprising a combination of engineering and management protection systems which cause minimal impact on the heritage assets.  Thorburn provided all design and tender documentation services including fire, structural and heritage disciplines.
