Following a number of disruptive blockages to the sewer system at a number of juvenile centres resulting from foreign items entering the system, Thorburn was engaged to manage the development, design and installation of an arrestor system to minimise such blockages.

An innovative solution comprising a series of pits and collection devices was developed by the hydraulics engineers following which the system was successfully rolled out to number of centres throughout NSW.
